RideCrew (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the RideCrew mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you register, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and password (stored as a salted bcrypt hash — we never store your actual password).

Profile Information: You may optionally provide a profile photo, status text, home address, and favorite places to enhance your experience.

Location Data: With your explicit permission, we collect real-time GPS coordinates (latitude, longitude, heading, speed) to enable convoy tracking, live map features, and route navigation. Location data is collected only while you are actively participating in a convoy and have granted location permission. You can disable location sharing at any time in your app settings or device settings.

Trip Data: We store trip details including routes, waypoints, participant lists, and trip status to provide convoy coordination features.

Payment Information: Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe, a PCI DSS Level 1 compliant payment processor. We do not store, process, or have access to your full credit card or bank account details.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to provide and improve our App:

• To create, authenticate, and manage your account
• To provide real-time convoy tracking and coordination among trip participants
• To calculate and display routes, ETAs, and navigation directions
• To send trip invitations, status updates, and in-app notifications
• To process payments for premium subscriptions via Stripe
• To improve app performance and fix bugs through anonymous analytics
• To ensure the security, integrity, and reliability of our services

We do not use your information for advertising, ad targeting, or marketing purposes. We do not serve ads in the App and do not share your data with advertising networks.

3. Analytics

We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous, aggregated usage data such as screen views, feature usage patterns, and crash diagnostics. This data helps us improve app stability and user experience. Firebase Analytics does not collect personally identifiable information for our analytics purposes. We do not use your data for cross-app tracking or advertising.

4. Location Data

Location data is central to RideCrew's convoy features. Important details:

• When collected: Only during active convoy participation and only with your explicit permission
• What is shared: Your name, live GPS position, and speed are shared with members of your current convoy only — based on your privacy settings
• Controls: You can disable “Share live location” and “Share speed” independently in your app privacy settings at any time
• History: Location data from completed trips is retained for your trip history. You may delete all trip history at any time via Settings → Privacy → “Delete trip history”
• Permissions: You can revoke location permissions entirely through your device's system settings

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We may share information only as follows:

• Convoy participants: Your name, location, and speed are shared with members of your active convoy (subject to your privacy settings)
• Service providers: We use trusted third-party services to operate the App:
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) — cloud hosting and infrastructure
  • Stripe — payment processing (PCI DSS Level 1 compliant)
  • Firebase (Google) — anonymous analytics and crash reporting
  • OpenRouteService — route calculation and directions
• Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users or the public

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:

• TLS/SSL encryption for all data in transit
• Encrypted database connections at rest
• Bcrypt-salted password hashing (we never store plain-text passwords)
• JWT-based authentication with token expiration and secure storage
• API keys stored securely and never embedded in distributed app binaries

7. Your Rights & Controls

You have full control over your data:

• Access & Export: Download all your personal data via Settings → Privacy → “Export my data”
• Delete Trip History: Permanently remove all past trips, routes, and location data via Settings → Privacy → “Delete trip history”
• Delete Account: Permanently delete your account and all associated data via Settings → Privacy → “Delete account”
• Privacy Controls: Manage location sharing, speed sharing, profile visibility, and phone number visibility via Settings → Privacy
• Revoke Permissions: Revoke location, camera, or notification permissions at any time through your device's system settings

8. Data Retention

• Active accounts: Data is retained while your account is active
• Account deletion: All personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days of account deletion
• Trip history: Trip route and participant data is retained until you delete it or delete your account
• Aggregated data: Anonymized, aggregated analytics may be retained for up to 24 months to improve the service

9. Children's Privacy

Our App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

10. International Users

RideCrew is operated from India. If you are accessing our App from outside India, your data may be transferred to and stored in India or other countries where our servers are located.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. When we make material changes, we will notify you via in-app notification and update the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the App after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
